listened to the DL last week, got the actual disc yesterday... vinyl sometime in Sept. this is a GREAT Sigur Ros CD. and, yeah, the Clodplay CD... "Yes" is a good track, but the rest seems even more boring than their other (boring) albums.. if that's even possible.

Heh! I normally find that you are accused of being a music snob for sticking up for small alt acts like Bat For Lashes, not commercial juggernauts like Radiohead!

To be fair to the lass, she's an indoors kinda girl. You could hardly hear anything that they were playing other than vocals, drums, and synth on Saturday! Would not judge her at all on this performance.

The instument in question is a Stroh violin! :-) A Hawk & A Hacksaw also use one!

Re Radiohead, I had been looking at the recent US set lists beforehand, so I guess that I was less surprised than many as to what songs that they would play.

I find their last three albums to be a bit like fine wines - the older they get, the more I appreciate them! As a result, I liked hearing them played!

Fair points, I'd still disagree though.

1. To see Tom Waits in Dublin I have noother choice but to pay this amount, considering it's been about 20 years since he last played here.

2. Tom Waits can control the prices if he wants. Yes it would have a certain amount to do with the promoters but if Waits said no that's too high they would've changed it. Look at what Prince did with his gigs in London. Waits (and his management etc) have seen that they can rip the Irish off and have done it, and yes we've fallen it for it.

3. If he's as good as you say then maybe it's worth what I (we) have paid, but I don't think so. The way I look at it is it's one act in a tent in a big park. Not worth €140.

First, Noone made you pay it. You did what I did. Threw caution to the wind and paid an extortionate amount for one of the worlds great entertainers.

Second, look at the prices in other countries. Tickets in France are half the price. This has nothing to do with Tom Waits, this has all to do with the fact that we're unwilling to actually do anything else but bitch into the internet about the way we're getting raped in this country for anything thats vaguely called a luxury.

Third, I had the exquisite pleasure in seeing Tom Waits perform in NY in 2000. Still the best gig Ive ever seen in every way. The man is truly a genius and I would have paid double to see him in a 3500 people venue which is of his own design

Ah.. I've actually really been enjoying The Slip. My favorite tracks after 2 listens are #4, #7, #8, and the final track. Still working on the titles as you can see.
